At Futura Sixth we have a dedicated Sixth Form team who support students during their time here, led by the Trust Director of Post-16 and the home centre Directors of Post-16. Pastoral care and academic mentoring is provided by Sixth Form tutors who meet their Sixth Form tutor group every morning during registration and offer guidance. As well as the tutors, we have dedicated Sixth Form administrators who provide extensive support during the UCAS process and with study skills, as well as a member of staff who is our designated Oxbridge mentor and helps prepare students with their UCAS applications and interviews through the Futures Programme.
As well as the student’s individual learning plan based on their chosen subjects, Sixth Formers have a weekly Core session led by teachers and we welcome a broad range of speakers to the school to talk with the students. Guest speakers over the past year alone have ranged from members of the armed forces and emergency services, Lawyers, Doctors, Judges, representatives from universities and apprenticeships. The Sixth Formers also have a weekly hour of Enrichment where they can choose to pursue a particular activity either inside or outside of the school, this takes place on a Wednesday afternoon in year 12. In Year 13 there is also an additional weekly hour lesson timetabled with a teacher to deliver PSHE and provide support in applications to UCAS,
The opportunities we offer for our students are extensive as we want to encourage them to become well-rounded individuals with views and opinions on the world around them.
